Some small but important things to do in an interview

Let’s say that this morning you just received a phone call from a company informed you to attend an interview by tomorrow. So, how do you prepare yourself for this important occasion ? Maybe, you will be busy preparing clothes to wear during the interview, go to salon or barbershop for a hair cut or maybe reading a dozen of books about interview tips.

That’s all you have to prepare ? Of course not. There are several things, small things but important enough that you must not miss out before the interview session :

(1) Warming Up. In a tense situation, particularly if this is your first time interview, your voice and the way you speak can be very different from the usual. Your voice can be transformed into impressively indecisive, or on the contrary it may changed to an explosive voice because of the adrenaline that makes you rugged and bad-tempered in appearance. To avoid this, do some warming up before the interview by talking to someone who available to talk to, or if you’re alone at that moment, making a phone call and talking to a friend. This will then lighten the tension so you can speak naturally, clearly and firmly during the interview.

(2) Relax. It will be not enough just relaxing your mind and your hear beat. When sitting in the room, the first thing you have to do is sit comfortably. Second, put yourself in the position that you are offering your skill and capability, not begging for a job. Although the interviewer usually conditioned the situation of the interview as superior and inferior, put yourself in line with the interviewer so that the conversation will go on smoothly. Just be noted to always be polite and maintain the good communication.

(3) Offer your capability. As mentioned at the previous point, you’re offering your skill and capability. In the bargaining situation like this, you have to be smart enough to show out your potentiality. For example, if you have been asked about your weaknesses, express it out but directly add it up with your idea on how to overcome such weaknesses.

(4) Be professional. Your attitude may contribute substantially in the overall scoring. Therefore, although the position that you are applying do not need the attitude of a Public Relation, you still have to smile, greet and staring at the eyes of the interviewer, and you have to do it with your full confidence.

The above points may seem trivial, but apparently, it will really safe your day (Hrd).
